Causes And Treatment Of Wrinkles

As people age, their epidermal cells become less sticky that makes skin noticeably thinner. When skin becomes thinner, the effectiveness of its barrier function decreases and releases moisture instead of locking it in the skin. When this happen, the skin is more prone to dryness and it is likely to lose its ability to repair itself.

When the dermal layer becomes thin, it produces less collagen and elastin fibers. These causes wrinkles and make skin sag.

Causes
Aside from the ageing process, sun damage is also linked to wrinkle formation. When skin is exposed to sun for a long period of time, it can result to dryness and it can damage the collagen fibers that protects the skin. In addition, prolonged exposure to sun can cause skin disorder and cancer.

Other factors of wrinkle formation are the following: Poor nutrition, stress, sleep deprivation, excess alcohol or illegal drug consumption, and pollution.
Prevention

1. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause serious skin damage. Experts recommend the use of hat when on the beach especially between 12nn-2pm. Use of sunscreen and sunglasses is also helpful to avoid wrinkles that might appear around the eyes.

2. Smoking is dangerous to your health. And also to your skin. People who are smoking form wrinkles around their mouth earlier compare to non-smokers. To keep skin healthy, avoid cigarette and smoky places like bars and restaurants.

3. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Excessive alcohol consumption is bad for the skin. Alcohol prevents the body from absorbing vitamins needed to keep the skin healthy.

4. Drink at least 8-12 glasses of water everyday. Water helps in keeping the skin glowing and healthy. It is an effective element in reducing wrinkles, flushing toxins, fat, and other foreign substances out of the body.

5. Use olive oil as much as possible. It makes the skin soft and younger looking.

6. Eat tomatoes and vegetables. These contain nutrients that are proven to make the skin look younger. In addition, fruits, nuts, and beans are also good food for the skin.

7. Resist the urge to sunbathe. Experts agree that although tan makes men and women look sexier, it can pose threat to the skin. Try self-tanner instead. Never use tanning bed or sunlamp.

8. Pamper the skin once in a while by going to spa or sauna. Also, get 8 or more hours of sleep. These can do wonders on the skin in no time.

9. Use moisturizer twice everyday.

Treatment
Dermatologists are advising people who have few, shallow wrinkles to use moisturizing creams and sunscreen. However, more and more people are looking for more advance technology in erasing the signs of ageing.

Recently, dermatologists responded to people’s request for wrinkle treatment. Botox was introduced that soften wrinkles that are caused by grimacing or squinting. Hyaluronic or collagen acid are injected on the skin to elevate wrinkles.

Another breakthrough is laser treatment to minimize wrinkles. Most common laser treatment is called Carbon Dioxide laser that is designed for deeper wrinkles.

People who have deep, excessive wrinkles resort to face lift. It is a surgical procedure that is both invasive and expensive that produces excellent results.

Wrinkles cannot be avoided but they can be delayed. There is nothing more satisfying than looking younger than one’s age. So, just follow these tips and stay young!

Minimizing Wrinkles

Okay, ladies, let’s face it, no one wants them, even though we know that they’re inevitable and just nature’s way of saying, life must go on… It’s the dreaded and most avoided issue among ladies, wrinkles. Women usually would prefer to compromise wisdom for beauty. Of course, not all of us can afford to go and get a quick fix of Botox or plastic surgery on a whim. At the cost of spending a significant portion of our savings, most of us could only dream of such tactics to fight nature’s unwelcome skin intruders. Opportunely, there are ways to prevent wrinkles and even attack and minimize those that already have been invaded by wrinkles. The tips that will be provided need to take place on a consistent basis as well as used as preventive measures regardless of age. However, the earlier you start combating wrinkles, as with anything, the more likely you will have success in doing so.

What causes wrinkles? It is essential to explore the root of wrinkles to understand how to avoid and treat them. The major cause of wrinkles is sun exposure. Sun exposure causes the skin to dry, which eventually leads to wrinkles and fine lines. Tanning beds are far worst than regular sun exposure. The direct exposure to the light causes severe damage to the skin. When you are attempting to get a tan by lying in the sun to do so, you are increasing your chances of getting wrinkles more rapidly and more severely. Smoking also increases wrinkles. Smoking deprives the blood of needed oxygen and nutrients, which lead to wrinkles. Finally, heredity plays a major role in how rapidly you will wrinkle and just how your skin wrinkles. Some genes allow people to grow old more gracefully, while others tend to appear wrinkled rather prematurely. Lighter skinned people wrinkle at a far more rapid rate as well as have deeper and more plentiful lines in their skin.

What do you need to do to prevent wrinkles? The first defensive measure that you should take is to avoid over sun exposure. Avoid direct sunlight, as much as you can to keep your skin looking it’s most youthful. The sun is the most damaging agent to your skin. Sunscreens offer protection against UVA radiation. Before going out in the sun, apply a sunscreen with a sun-protection factor (SPF) of at least 15. If you are a lighter skinned person, it is necessary to increase the sun-protection factor. It is recommended by most dermatologists to apply sunscreen about 30 minutes prior to going out. Another important measure is to avoid smoking, or quit. Smoking is detrimental to your skin and ages you far sooner than you would naturally age. Why rush nature’s process? There are enough factors in opposition to your skin without your assistance.

A good daily moisturizer to prevent wrinkles is essential. A good moisturizer keeps your skin hydrated which aids in the prevention of wrinkles. Make sure that you invest in a moisturizer that has an SPF, which is not difficult to find. The SPF will protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Also, check the label for retinol. Retinol contains vitamin A, and works to fight in the anti-aging process. These two ingredients work together to provide a youthful and vibrant appearance for all skin types. Be sure to cleanse your skin of all make-up before applying your moisturizer.

What if I already have wrinkles? If you’ve already been plagued with wrinkles, you don’t have to throw in the towel, there’s still hope. You can always opt to go the Botox or plastic surgery route. If money is an issue, you may check to see how much your insurance company will compensate and maybe take out a loan to meet the rest of the obligation. The results of plastic surgery or botox are usually excellent and will be sure to leave you pleased with your decision. Another option is to try the day-lift products, which aren’t as expensive, but can sometimes have high a success rate. While some wrinkle creams are effective, depending on how deep your wrinkles are, they usually don’t have a high success rate. The make-up counters at department stores are a better place to shop for wrinkle creams as opposed to drug stores. Note the labels that claim to “reduce the appearance of wrinkles” as opposed to getting rid of them.

If you take precautionary measures to prevent wrinkles, you’re likely to enjoy wrinkle free skin for a longer period of time. Keep your skin looking it’s best and most vivacious by avoiding harmful sunrays, and just saying no to nicotine. Your skin will thank you for it!
